My kids are at Belvedere and we've been very happy with it. The staff all know who the kids are and seem to like them, know who I am (even though I work F/T and am not at the school terribly often). Not as many extra curriculars as some of the schools in more affluent areas. The GT center is one of the smaller ones, which has created some issues (same group of kids in class together for 3 years), but overall, it's worked for us.

The older one will be at Glasgow next year, so we'll see how that goes.

I would send me kid to Stuart in a heartbeat if we weren't happy with our base school (we are in the Annandale pyramid). Both Stuart and Annandale are great IB schools, diverse, and undeserving of the nasty comment above. My son is GT Center eligible and while we chose to send him to our base school instead, we know lots of folks at Glasgow that like the school. They are a GT Center, have what's left of the immersion program in MS (funding cuts really gutted it a few years back at the MS level) and are an active IBMYP school. Don't know much about Glen Forest, but they have Level IV GT, and are a true neighborhood school if that helps.

Are you close enough to Marshall to pupil place for IB?

I live in 22042 (FC High School cluster) and don't know much about the Stuart cluster. But FC and Stuart are both in the lower half of Ffx Co schools when it comes to test scores, etc. and I believe both have higher rates of ESL, free and reduced lunch students and many people think those two things automatically mean that a school is not as good.

If we had to send a child to high school right now I'm not sure what we would do. Ideally we'd move somewhere with schools that are clearly better, but that costs more $ of course. We have a toddler and have looked a bit at our elementary school and middle school and are pretty comfortable that they are fine. Depending on how old your kid is I'd look at those first - if your kid is young, the high school might be completely different by the time they are HS age. HTH

Really? We're considering buying a house in the Glen Forest/Glasgow/Stuart cluster. What makes the schools horrible?
