I have small boobs and had no supply whatsoever - my LC said that I had faulty infrastructure - the ducts didn't work. My friend who had size H boobs (!!!) didn't get much supply either. A friend with D-cups had no issues - her boobs got ginormous during pregnancy and she had a ton of milk.

My mother had small boobs (literally a barely A cup size) and had zero issues breast feeding the 3 of us. A good friend has huge boobs and didn't have any trouble either. Another friend is probably a full B prepreg, and isn't producing much at all.

Moral of the story? Everyone is different!

If only that were true for me. I'm an E cup and have had trouble making enough for DS.

I've always had big boobs, but was unable to produce enough milk for 1st baby but did great for the 2nd baby.

I was 34C pre-preg, 34H while nursing, and did not produce enough milk and had to supplement. I thought I'd be bursting but alas, no.

A cup here who has EBF 3 kids past 2 years with tons of milk.

It seems to me that it more depends on how much they grow in pregnancy. I'm small chested and they never got much bigger when pregnant (I'm 37 weeks now with my 2nd). I had horrible supply issues with my first. I have very close friends who started out with smaller breasts than I did, but got much bigger with pregnancy and had no supply issues. I also wonder about something ive read and seen to be true - that women carrying girls have bigger boobs during their pregnancies (I'm carrying my 2nd boy)?!

No it doesn't - just means I looked comically bad and feel worse about myself

I'm a dietitian and we are taught that breast size has nothing to do with milk production. Large breasts have more fatty tissue, but not bigger milk lobules, necessarily.

They say it's about the specific milk reservoirs in your boobs, which can be large or small, regardless of the actual size of your boobs.

Not for me. Huge boobs. Barely had any milk with baby #1 and make just barely enough with #2. SIL had small boobs and oversupply.

Didn't work that way for my sister and me. We both are in the A-B cup range and we both made a lot of milk right from the start. I have no idea what makes some women better producers than others.

This has not been my experience. I wear a GG cup and was also able to produce more milk with a second baby, but it was still a shockingly small amount and not enough to sustain either of my children. Other than a few minor changes during pregnancy, my boobs were the same size for both babies.

That was my experience.

first kid - barely any milk, small boobs
second kid - tons, HUGE boobs

But who knows?

I am curious about this. I have VERY small boobs and I have been nursing a year. The first 4 months, I BARELY produced enough for baby but my one year, I am pump up to 10 to 12 ounces in one sitting. My friend who has HUGE boobs says she could pump 10 to 12 ounces in the first month after she gave birth (at that time I was MAYBE pumping 2 to 3 ounces in a sitting). Just curious if big boobs mean more milk!??! It seems like they could certainly hold more?
