This is OP. Before I posted, I was thinking of Scion, and that's what the first response suggested. But when the 'rents got here, they were hungry and tired; my dad nixed Dupont as being "too hectic." So we just went up the street to Cactus Cantina (I live in GP). It was only 5:00 when we got there so not that crowded. We had fajitas and they were good. Then we walked around the Cathedral grounds, went into the Cathedral for a little while before it closed, and that all was lovely. So they were happy.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I've always wanted to try Bistrot du Coin myself so thanks for the reminder.

Famous luigi's. 19th St between L and M. It's a red sauce, checkered tablecloth Italian spot. Very well priced.

Tabard Inn is generally quiet, but maybe a bit on the pricier side.

They will be here tonight on their way down to SC. It will be sans kids. Want to walk around Dupont in the nice weather but what's a decent place to go that's not too loud and full of young people? They are 66 and 70, and my dad's hearing is not that great. Also, they are used to upstate NY prices, and he will insist on paying. It will be sans children.
