Gee, maybe she loves him! The mother of my half sister (now 22) is only 3 years older than I am. She and I get along fine and my sister and I have a great relationship. My own mother treats her like one of the family. OP, I think that you are being a bit bitter. The only thing you shoud be worried about is whether she will be good to your kids.

I find it telling you are surprised that a 24 yo would want to marry your ex. Having regrets perhaps?

I'm sure you would be all giggles and smiles if you ended up divorced next year and your DH running off to marry a perky 24yr old.

If she's smart, she'll snap out of it and call off the marriage. Let the kids start saying there on weekends and 1-2 nights a week and she'll come to her sense. Three stepkids and an ex-wife who's been around for 20+ years is NOT the kind of baggage a 24 year old should saddle herself with. (No offense, I'm sure you and your kids are lovely, I don't mean that you four are personally awful, just that stepkids and ex-wives are tough and 3 kids and an ex-wife who's been around that long are WAY too much of a burden for a 24 year old to take on, IMO.)

Op here. Thanks for the collective cringe. Yes, my kids have other great role models but my ex was and is a great father that's what makes this so gut-reaching, truly was blindsighted. My kids LOVE her and think she is soooooo cool. DD already told me that ________ said she can wear a binki if I say it's ok..... Ughhhh if she only knew that for the past 2 years we have that bikini vs tankini battle every other week from April to September! Ahhhh life!

That is shocking news. Would you ever have imagined he would be the type to find a younger gf/wife? If the girl is smart, she'll come to her senses and cancel before the wedding. Can you hide this news from your kids until it actually goes through? I may he and the girl aren't clearly thinking right now.

I can see why you would cringe but, as you know, it's no reflection on you. My dad married someone 19 years his junior. That makes her two years older than me. Yep - two.years.older. If we would have grown up in the same town, we would have gone to high school together. Those first couple of years that they were together were pretty rocky between me and her.

But, they've been together for 17 years now. So far, it's worked out. You never know.

Married 21 years, divorced 9 months ago because of numerous issues, non of which were infidelity to his credit. We have 3 grade school kids. I am happier without him and feel, although not ideal or expected, divorce was best for our family. However, I cringe with this news. Just watching my 46 year old ex announce he is marrying a graduate student after there 5 month courtship makes me cringe. Wtf. No I don't think it's love and I have no fucking idea what the hell she is thinking....what 24 year old wants 3 kids over the age of 10? God I feel like such a lifetime movie, so embarrassing!
