I have a suggestion! We just stayed in one of the cabins at this place in Strasberg: http://www.beavercreekfarmcabins.com/

It was so nice! In the warmer weather there is a pond to sleep in, a pavilion with picnic tables and a campfire, lots of room to run around, a small pasture with goats the kids can pet and feed (but they are quiet and do not smell), and beautiful grounds. The place is run by a really nice woman who has lived there all her life, and is following her parents running the business. We just went for a long weekend over spring break. The cabins are really comfortable, two bedroom, nice little kitchen, fully stocked with plates/pans/silverwear. You can see the railroad museum from the hill on their property...it is very close. Right near downtown Strasberg, so not too far to Dutch Wonderland. Also there is a nice farm very nearby called Verdant View farm. We visited and you can help milk the cows, feed a baby calf, and see other animals.

Anyway we had a great time and can't wait to go back when our kids can swim in the pond.

We also stay at the Country Inn & Suites across the street. Multiple rooms, so you and your husband can stay up after the kids go to bed.

Eden Resort has an indoor pool and a restaurant, it's pretty nice. Next time we are going to find a farm bed and breakfast.

No advice on hotel, but a DW tip: Arrive the night before and buy tickets for the next day three hours before the park closes and they'll let you in for the last three hours without any additional charge. Like getting a day and a half for the price of a day.

With a 2 year old, I'd go with Country Inn and Suites, just for the ease of being able to walk back from DW at naptime, and then walk back over again later. Eden Resort is nice (you can also get suites there), but it is about a 15 minute drive to DW. Both are convenient to Strasburg.

Just a note, if your DS is wild about trains, in Strasburg there is the Toy Train Museum just next to the red caboose motel, and there is Choo Choo barn. Both are excellent.

We stayed at Homewood Suites and was very pleased. It was a 10 minute ride to DW.

Willow Valley has suites and an indoor water park.

NP here. Is there anywhere 'suite like'? So multiple rooms?

We have stayed 5 times at Best Western Eden. DH and my 5 yo DS are train fans. It is just 15 mins from DW. Last year they opened the kid's splash zone which is super fun.

The service has always been terrific and the rooms are updated and clean.

We are going back up for 4th of July to visit Hershey this time.

We have stayed at Country Inn and Suites a few times. It's just okay-rooms are worn and a bit grubby, breakfast is fie but a bit frantic. Last year we stayed at a little motel just up the street from DW, maybe called The Garden Spot? It was surprisingly good. Great to park right outside our room, very quiet, nice little breakfast room with decent breakfast options. Room was very old fashioned but spotless and it was a very nice change of pace.

Can't beat the convenience of country inn. Plus they serve a hot breakfast. We've stayed there the past 2 times. Nothing fancy but I loved just walking across the street and back for naps.
