St. Paul's Cathedral is amazing. London Dungeon is a great museum. If I remember correctly Portobello Market was great for shopping. Have fun!!

also - take the Tube to the Stratford station - there is a big mall there, but if you follow signs to the "Olympic Village" you can see what they are building for the Olympics - supposedly pretty cool

have a tour of the Tower of London with a Beefeater (no additional charge) - very funny and fun. take an afternoon to walk or ride a bike around St. James/Hyde Park - so nice there. Great Indian restaurant that would not be uncomfortable alone is Quilon. Take one of the double decker tour buses around town (the kind that let you off and on) - it will give you good orientation. London Eye would be fine alone. Westminster Abbey is better alone, it is so big.

They just unveiled William and Kate's wax figures at Madame Tousseau (sp?)!

Wow, that would be amazing. Of course, The British Museum, The Tate, Victoria and Albert, The National Gallery. Some awesome shopping... go to the shops Kate and Pippa Middleton go to. Take in a play or two. I'm jealous. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Depends what you like doing. Things I would like doing on my own: Poke around the shops on Marylebone High Street with lunch or coffee at Providores and browsing in beautiful bookstore, Daunts. If you like walking, you could continue up Marylebone and then wander thru Regents Park. Potter around fabulous food market, Borough Market (next to London Bridge Station), then stroll along South Bank with maybe a stop at Tate Modern. Vastly prefer shopping on Kings Road to Oxford St. Enjoy.

I have been in London a lot for business so know how you feel. A few ideas that I have done alone on recent trips (was just there 2 weeks ago):

- visit the Tate Modern, one of my favorite museums. It also has a really good cafe.
- get half price theater tickets and see a couple of shows. I've gotten some great seats getting single tickets.
- shop on Regent Street/Oxford Street - it's a little downscale now but still fun. I think they've got late shopping on Thursday nights.
- shop on Carnaby Street just off Regent Street. More trendy and boutiquey. While you are there eat at Masala Zone, which is a great Indian chain I think by the same people that own Wagamama.
- Go to the V&A Museum (down the street from Harrod's which is a bonus).


While I love tea at Brown's I am not sure I would do that alone.

I am the PP. I also forgot about the Beatles Walk which I did with my friends. Lots of fun!

I used to spend a lot of time reading in parks when the weather was decent. My favorite was a tiny park in Mayfair that was great for people watching. There are tons of museums to visit if that interests you. I loved all of the interesting London Walks. Pick up a brochure or visit their website: http://www.walks.com/
I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper walk but the Royal Wedding and Harry Potter walks look like fun too. I lived in London many years ago but I miss it a lot (not the prices though!) Have a great trip!

See the crown jewels. Have lunch at a Jamie Oliver restaurant. Read a book in Kensington Park.

High tea at Brown's Hotel. Roam around Harrod's (although I wouldn't buy anything there).

I'll be in London sans famille for a week for work, with a lot of down time. What shall I do? Last time I was there I was in college. So sightseeing, shopping, food, pub recommendations and anything else would be welcome.
