Hmmm, I wonder if I just imagined or assumed that the friend had the last name of Buck?
Yeah, I agree about Vivian of the 1980's being a ghost just wouldn't really fit in with the rest of the story, which is why I was so confused.

I read it but I don't recall her friend Vivian's last name being Buck? I think I thought it was just a coincidence. In any case, no I do not think Vivian in the Calle was a ghost. The rest of the story was too gritty and real for that sort of thing, I think.

Ok.....can someone please explain to me the whole Vivian Buck thing? I mean, Vivian Buck was the little girl that the main character met--in the mid 80's, right? But Vivian Buck was also the name of a little girl back in the 1920's...
Was it just supposed to be a different girl with the same name? Was the Vivian Buck that Rory met supposed to be a ghost or something? She mentions the girl's "weird underpants" or whatever that sound like they could have been more the style of the 1920's...
I just didn't understand that part and would like any insight. Thanks!
