I think most 12 year old boys at a party for a much younger child would not expect a separate gift for them. A bag with more candy and less little girl toys? Sure? That isn't to say that he wouldn't be touched and pleased if you stuck something like an Itunes card in there for him, but he wouldn't expect it. At a party for kids his own age he wouldn't expect a goody bag at all, since they stop being the norm.

We had my son's birthday at Dave and Buster's and the 12 and 13 year olds were really drawn to bouncy rubber balls when they cashed in their tickets. They also like candy.

I like the hackysack idea. He may be at that age where favors would seem too young, but I think I'll err on the side of getting him something. He will appreciate it. Thanks! -- OP

I was not being snarky. Figured the op did not know the cut of for when kids stop expecting goody bags.

OP did not mention the age of her DD but mentioned that most of the guests were young. My 12 yo son (who is far from perfect) would not at this point want to be counted as a kid assuming the guests were pre-school/young elementary. I agree no favor for the 12 year old. My 12 year old rarely gets favors at parties he attends these days.

HACKYSACK. It is a little ball the size of a tennis ball covered on the outside with brightly colored woven yarn. You kick it around with your foot or ankle. "Deadhead" types (not to stereotype) play with them.

My daughter is having a family birthday party and most of the kids coming are young and I can easily find party favors for them. I have a 12 year old nephew who will also be there and I don't know what to get him. Any ideas for a couple things to put in his bag besides candy?
