Asian, 47-year-old woman here, with few wrinkles (often mistaken for mid-30s), dislike for foundation, and oily skin in the T-zone. In other words, I am a lot like you, OP. I have never worn foundation. Here's what I use: Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunblock Lotion 60 SPF, followed by Maybelline Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder (color: Light). The combo of these two give me just the barest finish and color. A very young look. Foundation can be terribly aging.

I have very oily skin too and my new favorite product is Murad's tinted primer. There's one specifically for acne-prone skin, and it has some salicylic acid in it, so in addition to controlling oil and shine, it helps clear up my skin. In the winter I wore that with some Make-up forever high definition foundation on top, and I liked the combo. In warmer/humid weather, I wear murad with a clinique powder foundation over it. I also hate the feeling of foundation but only in the summer where I swear I can feel it smothering my skin. But if I switch to powder, I don't have that problem. A PP above also mentioned Dr. Perricone's no foundation foundation which I've heard great things about, and may try it when my current bottle of murad primer runs out.

Try the Vichy Dermablend foundation in a squeeze tube. Use a very small thin brush to dot on spots, then blend. It is highly pigmented, covers anything, and lasts forever. I forget the name of the color I use, but it matches my Asian skin perfectly. The coverage is so good that I use it as a concealer and don't need foundation. I don't powder because I find that it makes my skin look wrinkly in places.

Also, the Lisa Eldridge videos for foundation and concealer application are very good. You will find them on You Tube.

Another 30s Asian woman here. We have the exact same skin condition/issue. I use Makeup Forever's Duo Mat Powder Foundation (with a brush not sponge). It's the lightest powder foundation and it finishes the look beautifully. I've tried Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer, Bare Essentuals powder, and Aveda tinted moisturizer/powder but the results were just ok.

And in case if you are interested, these are the products I use. The regimen seems to work well with my skin and not make me break out anymore.

Try a primer first, then a light foundation. I use smashbox primer and a pencil stick for areas on my face that need coverage. The primer controls the oil, I have very oily skin, for almost 10 hours - a matte finish.

Glad you asked this question, op. I was just thinking about this for the summer. My skin is oilier in the summer and everything slides off. Can any of the pps tell me how their foundations work in the summer? Do you use the same or switch to something else?

If you want to stick with mineral makeup, Bare Essentuals makes a heavier pigmented "cover up" that I use to cover my sun spots and blemishes before I use their foundation. I've been happy with the results. For the one darker spot I have, I use Bobbi Brown's stick foundation only on that spot and use mineral makeup over it. Good luck.

Dr. Perricone No Foundation Foundation

I'm not Aisan but I have super oily skin. I went with Chanel and I put it on with a wet makeup sponge. It works really well and it feels very light on your skin once it dries. I don't like foundation either but I like the Chanel. (Yes, I know it is crazy expensive.) Using the sponge you can use it sparingly too.

PP here - Oh, I did try Laura Mercier and it did not work for me. I thought the tinted moisturizer was too heavy and it would rub off on my clothes. I'm not sure if it will work for oily skin.. although you can try the oil-free version.

32 year old Asian woman here. I love Shiseido Tinted Moisturizer and used it for years. I think it's called Shiseido Moisture Tint .. forget the actual name. Right now I'm using Dr. Jart Beauty Balm - has SPF 45 and very light coverage. It's available at Sephora... it has rave reviews on sephora.com. If you are oily, just wear a little bit of powder after you put on foundation - highly recommend Chanel's pressed powder. It's the best powder I've used and worth the money.

second the laura mercier tinted moisturizer.

I hate wearing foundation, but a few years ago, I realized that I kind of need it. I really like Laura Mercier--both the tinted moisturizer and the regular foundation. Feels like light lotion going on, gives even coverage, and I often forget I even have it on.

I hate foundation too, but have been wearing a tinted moisturizer (started with Estee Lauder, now using Nutrogena) cause it had some color, an SPF, and a light moisturizer (which I need). Don't know if it works for oily skin...

As some background: I'm a 36 year old Asian woman who has almost no wrinkles, but VERY oily skin (hence the no wrinkles), as well as acne-prone skin. I hate the idea of foundation- hate the "feel" of it on my skin, like it's smothering it, hate that it rubs off onto clothes, kleenex, etc. I know I need it though- as mentioned before, my acne-prone skin has some pigmentation marks from previous zits and I have bad sun spots at the tip of each cheekbone.

Are there are any recommendations for a good foundation? I take my clothes on/off during the day to go to the gym and rub my face on towels or sometimes my workout shirt if I get too sweaty. I currently wear just a touch of a mineral foundation powder on my trouble spots.
