I am one of the very few posters who eats a obscene amount of healthy foods and am thankfully only 8#s overweights. If my metabolism were not so fast, I would be morbidly obese.

I'm not sure what is up with my hunger, but it is always off the charts, its like i'm never full.

unhealthy, NOT healthy

I posted in that thread and was 100% honest - the OP of this thread is the one who sounds like she is starving herself. Not healthy, and actually bad for weight loss as it lowers your metabolism!

Well, if it makes you feel any better OP, I'm just above the "overweight" cutoff for BMI and so far today I've had two waffles with butter and syrup (I'm in another time zone, so not time for lunch yet). They were DELICIOUS!

Some of it may be dishonest however remember that people with disordered eating are drawn to food threads and to talking to about food intake. So it may be an overrepresentative of people with eating issues rather than people under reporting their intake...although I agree that often happens too.

Huh? I didn't list quantities, but I did list food. That is what I eat, and an awful lot of posters listed amazing amounts of food.

That said, not everyone eats tons. I have kids who live and thrive on air alone, and another---the skinniest one--who eats me out of house and home. I'm thinking tapeworm?

I was the one who talked about using a food diary. I find it incredibly helpful to be more mindful of my intake. Easier to say no to the Easter candy when I have to write it down with calories.

I didn't lie, although I dont think I stated the quantities of the food consumed. I'm a healthy eater for the most part, but seem to eat a lot. And yes, overweight and has always been a struggle.

Losing weight by dieting nearly always involves shedding muscle and keeping the fat.

So to lose fat but not muscle, you need to exercise seriously (cardio + muscle training) and increase (or at least not decrease) your protein intake, which builds muscle.

It's a lifestyle change, in fact. That is the only way your weight loss can be healthy and permanent.

To help me with this, I read the magazine Oxygen and Tosca Reno's book Clean Eating. The mag is frighteningly full of ugly female bodybuilders and dubious supplements, but don't run away! The reason this mag is better than the pseudo health mags like Shape etc, is that the bodybuilding world has long researched and practiced the best ways to lose fat and gain muscle. If you only follow a tiny portion of what these women eat and exercise, that will be sufficient to firm your body and give you definition instead of flab.

Good luck!

I was just thinking that same thing!

Or, could be the thread is overrepresented by anorexics who like to measure, weigh and control their food.

I was the OP. I certainly wasn't lying....didn't need to. What I eat on a daily basis is horrific. The worst part is, that was me on a GOOD day :/

I was 100% honest on that thread. And many others were reporting "NON starving model" daily food intake (Imo.)

Girl, you are going to send your body into starvation mode with that shit! You won't lose a pound because your body is going to be convinced it's in a dire no-food situation and start clinging to your fat cells like white on rice. Two shakes, dinner of a 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 lean protein, 1/4 good grain.

based on that thread, everyone is eating like starving models. not buying it. i don't think any one is lying on purpose; it's just been shown time and time again that people underreport their caloric intake.

in addition, i would be curious to know how old the posters are: as one gets older, one really does have to eat less to lose or maintain.

btw, I'm in my mid-forties. I am about 15 pounds overweight after a yearlong health struggle, and am trying to kick start weight loss with a slim fast type approach - 3 shakes, and a small dinner (cottage cheese and a grapefruit). And yes, I'm starving. I'm hoping to take off five or so pounds, and then start eating small amounts at each meal and for snack.
