Oh no, I just realized that this is what my wife's family was probably saying a decade ago. Oh well. Sorry.

The angry mom on the other thread complaining about college tuition should pay attention to this thread. I'd much much rather pay college tuition for a "loser" child that for a wedding to a loser.

Oh, the irony. Thanks for the laugh.

OP is probably 100% right that groom is a loser, but 100% wrong about the idea that she can do anything about it. I hate when we raise kids to make their own decisions and then they make ones we don't like!

DD has had a loser BF. Wasted years on it. Would I help out with wedding or housing expenses for a DC with a loser/GF/BF/spouse?

No cash would flow for living expenses and the wedding would be cheap. Venue? The yard-no wait the loser would have friends doing weed and coke so it wouldn't be at my house.

OP, you are a dumbass. No one can really predict how things will turn out. Your child may know things you don't and even she doesn't, you could still be WRONG!

I dated a loser once. My mom cried and cried for days when she found out, and it made me think about his huge problems that I already knew but wasn't acting on. Broke up with him and thank gd every day that I did.

My niece married a loser. Her parents tried unsuccessfully to talk her out of it before the wedding. Eventually she saw the light and divorced and remarried a nice guy. So not a straight path but one that worked out in the end.

Yes, she's probably marrying someone so stupid they don't know how to spell loser.

Is she excited about the wedding? If so, pull your financial support from it. See if that dampens things.

Do you mean he's a loser? And you have nothing to lose?
