We love our Safety 1st Avenue - it was a little more than the Scenera ($60 on sale), but can accommodate a taller kid. Very light, nests inside our umbrella stroller. Sadly, I think it's discontinued and I'm not sure if there's an equivalent new model.

This is the only car seat we own (we don't own a car). I've only ever used it forward facing. It's extremely easy to install with LATCH and slightly more challenging with seatbelts, but doable. The hardest part is getting the seatbelt clip on right. I've never installed it in an aircraft.

Got it from Amazon.

OP, just saw both the girl and boy versions at Glen Burnie, MD, Walmart over the weekend. They had at least 2 of each version.

We have 2 - bought one in the store in May 09, and the other off of Amazon a year or so ago.

Installation - simple for a forward facing install (with LATCH). Rear Facing can be more difficult if your seat dips down towards the backrest. But this can easily be dealt with by either placing a rolled up towel or a piece of foam pool tube in the seat crease.

We've traveled extensively with this seat (it's also our 2nd car seat, now used by kid #2), and it's been the perfect choice for our family.

Which Walmart did you find it at? Maybe it just sells out as quickly as they come in.

Just got it for $39 at Walmart. There were two other people in the baby dept with it in their carts too. I saw it online but it seems you have to buy it in a pair online. I haven't used it yet, we're taking on the plane and will use in the rental car. Seems ok, so light it was surprising. There are no frills and the "padding" seems a little cheap but reviews are good.

I've read that the Cosco Scenera is a great travel seat since it's light and cheap. Has anyone bought one recently? I can't find it in stores?
Also, how tough is it to install?
Any other seats that are light?
