I don't mind if a doc says to my kid, "I need to talk to your mom."

I'd prefer not be called anything than be called mom or mommy by anyone other than my kid.

I hate it. I was in the ER with my son when he was 3 weeks old. They were ignoring us and wouldn't let me nurse him for almost 9 hours. Tests were done and we were just waiting for the discharge paperwork. I asked the doctor if I could feed my son, and in a very condescending tone, he said "Hold on, Mommy. We'll get to you." HATE. If you don't know my first name, just call me Mrs. Last Name, not "Mom" or "Mommy"---it's on the chart. Of course, I'm sure someone who has a different last name than their DC will chime in and say they would be offended to be called by the wrong last name...

No, the child is the patient, not me. They get their names right, and that's what I care about.

They probably can't remember your name so it's easier on them. They would probably call you "You" if it were socially acceptable.

I would rather they call me "Mom" and not make me wait around so long at every ped appointment!

My kid has a lot of medical appointments. Pretty much everyone calls me "Mom" rather than my name. This annoys me a great deal. I know that they are just trying to make their lives easier but is it too much trouble to call me by name? Anyone else not like this?
