If it's fresh, it's called corn. To make your own hominy, you'd need lye -- not exactly a good artisanal project for a random Sunday afternoon. Buy the canned stuff and make a big pot of pozole.

Hominy is a type of white corn. It's usually sold either canned or ground.

You can buy it dry at latin stores and then reconstitute it. You can't buy it fresh, fyi. Make some posole!
