Subject: 50 today ...
I'm almost 50, OP. Very exciting to get to the next decade. I'm so much wiser than I was a decade ago. I get tired more easily, but I have so much perspective now that I feel at ease about a lot of things I could not have handled when I was younger. It is a richer life now, and I look forward to living an even better life well into my 90s. I want to drop dead around age 100 while training for a marathon!

OP, Happy Birthday! PP, I'm also turning 50 in August, I never thought that I would feel stoked about turning 50, but I am. I feel at my best now...physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

Seriously, 20 sucked. 30 ws awesome and 40 was not too bad. 50 will be tougher but it always takes me a couple of years to get used to a new decade.

OP here - thanks, everyone. I didn't want to tell my colleagues about my birthday (it's a huge meeting of all the senior execs of my company, and I really didn't want the personal attention!) so it was nice to be able to have birthday wishes from friends, family and the DCUM forum!
