No. If Republican Presidential candidates are demanding an apology for the behavior of an entertainer, I'd like to know what they think is the acceptable form. I assume you find each of these responses acceptable. Surely Gingrich himself can't fault the Prez for using the Gingrich Apology, right? And he is the one demanding the apology.

I actually think DeNiro's joke was hysterical! I cannot believe that the FLOTUS office commented.

While DeNiro's joke was inappropriate and unfunny, wasn't it just a play on all of the pre-Nov. 4, 2008 media articles/news segments/discussion of "is the US ready for a black first lady?"

I thought it was poking fun at that.

While Deniro's joke was not appropriate (and the First Lady said so, as well as the WH did), it is NOT the same as what Limbaugh said. First, Limbaugh said it on a national radio broadcast. Deniro was at a private function. Second, Limbaugh's comment was directed at a specific person, not some generality. Third, Limbaugh's comment was directed at a private citizen and, even worse, a student. Finally, both the WH and the First Lady responded that the comment was not appropriate. I do not recall any Republican political leader stating promptly and clearly that Limbaugh had gone too far. In fact, Limbaugh made his comments over 2 days and barely apologized.

I agree. Im a -R and feel that the quote was very silly and the first lady was there last night; hence, her press secretary said it was inappropriate. I dont really feel Obama needs to address it

But then again, the lib outcry was for all republican candidates to refute Rush's comments.

Maybe Deniro shouldn't do so. I don't see why the President should apologize for Deniro.
