Check with your airline. As a PP stated, some airlines have put weight limits on strollers that can be checked at the gate (20 lbs.).

Several airlines have instituted weight restrictions for gate checked strollers and a smugaboo would certainly be over the limit.

I would not risk it. They had us check our bugaboo with our luggage when we last traveled. Spent our 5-hour layover carrying a baby and a toddler - not fun.

Just make sure with the airline. Some airlines have weight restrictions with gate checked strollers.

We travel with our Uppababy Vista all the time and never had an issue.

You should be able to gate check your Bugaboo. I did last October when we traveled to Europe and back in 2010 too. I never bothered with the stroller bag and just bought the full size gate check bag they sell at Buy Buy Baby. It's bright red and basically just keeps your stroller from getting dirty. It was $20 or less...can't remember. Happy travels!

Yes, most definitely. You need to buy the special bag and take the stroller apart.

My advice? Buy a $20 umbrella stroller.

A while back I heard the bugaboo was too big to be used as a carry-on and that it needed to be checked in with the luggage. Is that still the case? We are traveling to Europe soon and want to be prepared.
