Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. In the first two books, the main characters are in their 20s, but when the story picks up again in the third book they are in their 40s. Her writing is phenomenal.

Isn't that erotica?

yes. it was fanfic-- redoing Twilight as a young woman being introduced to BDSM

But with no vampires or werewolves in sight. Google "articles about 50 shades of grey" and you will find a zillion links. In the last week, coverage of this trilogy has exploded, it's really nuts.

I enjoy the Evanovich books (one for the money, two for the dough, etc.) when I am in the mood for a quick read.

Kristin Hannah's books might fit your bill! I especially enjoyed Firefly Lane.

I was a big fan of the whole chick-lit genre in my 20s. Bridget Jones' Diary, Marion Keyes' novels and so on. I'll be 40 this year and the stories of young 20-somethings just aren't fascinating casual reading any more.

My only chance to relax and read is usually at night on my Kindle right before bed so I'm not looking for deep, intellectual nonfiction works right now. Thoughts on some authors or titles? I've liked Barbara O'Neal's books but her next one isn't due out until summer.
