Actually, yes. Many of them speak Hebrew as their first language. They are Israeli.

Thanks for your helpful input! I feel more confident already given all of the positives you've shared.

We have lived in Old Farm for 7 years and are very happy. This is our first year with a child at Farmland, and things are going well. As with most other MoCo schools, the class sizes are large, but the new school (which is fantastic) was built to accommodate a high number of students, so no overcrowding, trailers, etc. The facility is top-notch and totally state of the art, and it has a great playground. There is a high Asian and Jewish population at the school (although we are neither), which lends an international feel. I do think it helps the younger kids appreciate other cultures. I think I read that there are something like 30 countries represented. Most of the Asian population comes from the Rollins Park neighborhood on the other side of Montrose -- lots of folks live there while working at NIH under grants or fellowships. The culture of the Old Farm neighborhood is pretty relaxed and down to earth. I don't find any "keeping up with the Joneses" attitude, although there is plenty of money floating around here. We are members of one of the two pools, and that has been great socially for us and the kids. There are happy hours every Friday, and it's a great time all summer. I can't speak personally about Tilden and WJ, but I've heard good things about both, especially WJ. We know plenty of people who went there or are there now and have nothing but good things to say. I also think this location is so convenient. You never have to drive more than 5 or 10 minutes to run any kind of errand. Good luck!

We are thinking of purchasing a home in the Tildenwood (Old Farm) neighborhood, which feeds into the Farmland-Tilden-Walter Johnson cluster. Any thoughts or experiences regarding these schools would be appreciated. Specifically, information about how nurturing, supportive as well as academically strong they are would be helpful. Are parents down to earth? Also, any thoughts about the culture of the neighborhood to which we might be moving? Thanks in advance!
