No - a good friend of mine admits that her youngest was a complete troll. "Parents of ugly children know that our children are ugly." He turned into a very good looking (and smart and friendly) young man, so all worked out.

i've had three kids and think all three are beautiful. However, #3 has received a ton more attention from other people than the other two combined. I've had at least 10 other parents say the exact same thing: "I generally don't notice or like other people's children but she is incredibly cute".


But with her, it's 99% personality. She's a ham and not in a cloying or annoying way. It just shines through and makes her very appealing. I doubt she's actually any better looking than other kids (except in my eyes!).

It's funny you posted this OP, because I was just randomly having similar thoughts.

I think my DD is beautiful and appreciate comments from others on her appearance or disposition. I also see lots of other beautiful kids in the world. However, I've also seen quite a few not-so-attractive babies and toddlers.

Do their parents recognize that, objectively speaking, their kids drew the short end on the good looks, or do they think they are gorgeous? (Who knows, maybe my own kid is one of the ugly ones and I've answered my own question!).

I would say that DS was "objectively" cute, but I would never say that my child was the "cutest." Parents who do think that their kid is the cutest in the world, ever, suffer from a very limited visual world.

My kid is really, really cute. Big blue eyes, adorable toothy smile, blond curls. Others are too, though. I do see some babies that aren't cute, but their parents definitely think they are. So are we all delusional? Hmm...

No, I'm not delusional.

My baby is the cutest baby I have ever seen - no question. I have seen some other cute babies and some that are not so cute. But mine is still the cutest. I think everyone thinks their kids are the cutest though.

I don't think my kids are objectively the cutest. I personally think they are among the most adorable humans on the planet but that is based on personality and a massive amount of maternal love. This is not to say my kids are ugly - they are in fact cute and strangers often say so - but I just don't believe my kids are THE CUTEST kids out there.

It's biological for species survival.

I definitely recognize my kid's shortcomings, appearance-wise.

But, she's the best kid on the planet, flyaway hair and dark-circled eyes and all.

(Also, I don't worry, because I was a pretty funny looking kid, and by 16, was smokin' hot. Have aged quite well, too. She'll be just fine. )

I think my kid is the cutest, of course. I think some other kids are funny looking, but I imagine their parents would disagree.

My son is only a year old but I do already see the pros and cons in his personality--so far he looks like his dad but has my personality, which can be kind of intense. I love it but I expect others would think he's a handful.

I have the cutest 5 year old on the planet! He's bi-racial, and has the most beautiful skin tone and smile! He's very bright as well, one of the best performers in his class.

There are some very not cute children in his class, and I also wonder if their parents find them beautiful....

I think my kid is the cutest too!!

Every parent thinks their kid is the best and most adorable. Parents love their kids just as much as you love yours. In the early years I have noticed that parents think their kids can do no wrong and are made of magic. It is only in the elementary school years that parents can see that their kids are not the best at absolutely every single thing. And they can start to see drawbacks to aspects of their child's personality.

I think my son is the cutest kid ever. I look at other kids and can tell some are pretty damn cute, but none are cuter than my son, at least none I've seen personally- I've seen some pictures of cuter kids or in ads etc. I see some kids that are really not cute at all. I know their parents think those kids are cute, but do they also think their kids are the cutest?

I know my love bias plays a role in it. It won't make a difference either way, even if my son's not the cutest, objectively, I will still think he is, but I was just curious how many parents think their kids are the cutest? Or do parents realize their kids might not be the cutest, but who cares anyway. TIA for enlightening me.
