Does your school offer live classes or a course of study that interests you? Or would you have to drop out entirely?

I got a MA (I was originally in the program that would take me straight through the Phd. afterwards) at most academically rigorous school in DC, no need to say the name but hint hint it's in the 20007 zip. I will say that for my 2 years there I didn't learn one damn thing. It was the biggest waste of time and money to sit around with a bunch of jerks that love intellectual masturbation. I wasted money to hear people spout off about irrelevant (to our field of study) philosophy just so everyone knew how well read they were. Literally, within 5 minutes of the class starting it would go off on some tangent about Voltaire or Sartre and I wanted to stab myself in the face. Our field had not one fucking thing to do with this. Please don't waste your time responding to me that philosophy relates to everything, trust me not in this case.

I really could go on for days. GET OUT NOW OP and don't waste your time or money you will wind up being resentful

Seems ironic that you're studying something that doesn't seem to innately interest you. I would reconsider your program if you're not finding online learning stimulating but are considering daily work with technology. But maybe that's why you're thinking of taking a break to reconsider? Or maybe I'm off base.

OP here...It's an online instructional technology program. I've realized that the online piece is a problem for me..I seem to learn more effectively when there is a lecture, and reading a discussion board just isn't cutting it for me learning wise.

I doubt there are many programs that would offer a TA-ship to a part-time student.
OP, what's the field and how many classes are you taking now? Do you not like the subject, the instructor, or what? Are you considering switching to another school with a similar program or just jettisoning the idea of getting the degree?

I have a masters in business. I paid tuition. No such thing as TAs at my (Ivy) school. But it was pragmatic since I make way more than I did when I entered.

If you are having doubts, cut your losses and move on.
No, you are not crazy.

Especially if this is law school!

18:43, only high-demand fields offer full rides these days. You might be surprised to learn that most grad students pay tuition.

OP: what field are you in? A professional degree (law, policy, engineering, etc) will most likely pay off career-wise, but if you're on an academic track, I'd take a break and decide whether you're truly committed. Good luck!

You are paying for grad school? I don't understand. Did you not receive a TA-ship?

I think if you're having doubts already yOu should at least take a break and reassess. It's only your first semester and seriously, no use in throwing good money after bad.

I kind of feel like my grad degree was a waste. Too late now though.

I'm in my first semester of grad school, going part time while I work during the day. I'm not thrilled with the education I'm receiving for my money, and I'm having doubts that I should continue with the program. Did anyone ever decide to switch to a different program after starting? Am I crazy for even thinking this, after I've already begun to invest money in this program?
