Before you write it off completely, they do have a Spanish dual-language program.

Friends live in that area. The ES draws very heavily from the apartments in the area and many of the middle class families do private religious school instead.

ouch, I read those links showing the school's stats - half the school is english as a second language, 75 or 80% is low-income/FARMS, and all the low-income kids (as a whole) do not even meet the Reading proficiency standards. that yeshivah is sounding even better - or catholic school

I think you have a good amount of low-income and immigrant residents there, mixed with a lot of orthodox kids who go to the Yeshivah there. If your child is ahead of the curve, I would opt for Catholic school if you aren't jewish. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh or mean or whatever - just being honest and saying what I would do for my child. Hell, I would try to get my kid into the Yeshivah if that meant what was best for my child's education.

I live near Kemp Mill. I looked at the map the other poster posted and I would make an educated guess that the majority of the students live in the western part of the map, over in the apartments and townhouses on the roads off Georgia Ave. (Maybe not a majority, but that is where the high density housing is and there is some pretty low density housing around Stoneington .)

I'm not sure how you would find that information out, maybe ask for the bus routes for the school. There would be more bus routes to the area near Ga. Ave if there are more students there.

Does anyone have kids that go there or know about the school? I know that many people who live in that area send their kids to private jewish or catholic schools, so I was wondering if the majority of the kids come from the neighborhood or somewhere else. Any information would be helpful.
