Don't people on this board get annoyed when people with high HHIs don't feel rich is this area because it is so expensive? Now you're annoyed because someone DOES feel rich?

The problem with these women is looking down on others. That's not okay if you are rich. Not actually being rich doesn't matter.

Alright, I've figured out a DCUM equivalent to the women I met. Spring Valley moms. Imagine what you'd think of as a stereotypical Spring Valley mom, subtract the money, but keep the attitude. Wouldn't you think they were kind of crazy?

They didn't say anything that made me think they were appreciative of what they had. They had the same kind of snobby attitude I see here in DC, but minus they money it seems nuts.

The irony of looking down on people for looking down on other people?
The fact that 45,000 is the avg. household income in the US, so they fact is that they probably are rich?

Why does it bother you for other people to feel rich, OP? I actually think it sounds refreshing to find people who actually appreciate what they have. Aren't you sick of the constant "I-make-$300K-but-can't-make-ends-meet" posts on DCUM? So many of us (me included) get caught up in always wanting more. The truth is, these women who get under your skin ARE rich in comparison with most of the world. They are lucky to realize it. If you are bent out of shape about their ugly sweatsuits, that says a lot more about you than it does about them.

The neighborhood is in a suburb of a major city.

22:24 The major city has many, MANY rich areas in the city. I can't see how they could possibly look at the richer people in the city and think they're on par with them. It's hard for me to describe the attitude these women had.
