I know trust fund kids that are useless. Their condo in Georgetown (gorgeous BTW) is paid for by their parents, as was every opportunity given to them. There is no reason for them to be dependent on their parents, yet they have absolutely no capabilities of being on their own. I don't know if the parents (mother) did this on purpose, but it is my greatest fear, really.

NP here. If I'm being honest with myself, I think I would feel that way as well. It's easier to be tolerant and respectful of others; however, it's harder to be tolerant of yourself and those closest to you. Also in the case of skipping college.... I could care less what paths other people have chosen, but I expect my kids to attend college (especially after working so hard to save the money so they can attend without the extra burden of financial stress). I think every parent holds their kids to some degree of standard, and it varies by parent, as evidenced in this topic.

Bullying/meanness/cruelty/lack of empathy
Teasing other kids for characteristics they can't change (looks, race, disability)
Laziness
Lack of intellectual curiousity

No ambition to be self-supporting. Would HIGHLY prefer lots of post-graduate education. But will be happy with self-supporting.

Someone who treats his girlfriends (or boyfriends, if that's the case) like crap.

Super-conservative or super-religious. Mainstream of either is great.

I would be upset if she was a bully either verbally, through internet/social media or through violence. I couldn't stand it if my DD turned out to be close minded and hateful and hurtful toward others.

Much of the really illegal stuff, of course. But also, I'd be upset if my daughter went in for serious body modification, like extensive tattoos or piercings.

I would also be upset if she became a mean girl, or adopted a conservative evangelical religion.

i would be really, really upset if my daughter became a loser who smoked marijuana every day and had no ambition. like some people i have known.

i really hate the stuff and i just would not stand for it.

I hear this all the time from other parents, and would like to think I would always love and be there for my kids, but there are a few things that if they did/were, would definitely irk me.

-Working in porn/prostitution/stripping/posing nude etc
-Sell drugs
-Not going to college
-Getting pregnant irresponsibly (as a teen and/or without a stable partner)
-Violent crime
