The TPES science and math magnet is a highly competitive program that draws from a number of different schools. Entry is in 6th grade, I believe. There are several threads about it on here if you search.

Folks I know speak very highly of TPMS.

It's a great school. It's high performing so you don't see the MSA craziness you see at some of the other schools. It's diverse too. We know lots of magnet and non-magnet families and they seem very happy.

One thing to consider is that from TPMS kids go on to Blair, which gives some people (well, mainly posters on DCUM's private school forum) the shivers. But my kid in Blair's CAP program is very happy there. Blair is probably what you make of it, but Blair's a different subject and it's not what you asked so I'll stop there.

Would you move to Takoma Park for Takoma Middle School? What is the school like? Looking for a place with students interested in learning where kids are valued and enjoy school.
