DH is Asian and I am white. DD is being raised bilingual, yes

Re: Asian culture seeing other races as "the other" -- it's complicated because it's a bit of a superiority/inferiority complex.

To 21:13 - My Asian mom was considered very "modern". Went to grad school in the US, was the only one in her family to do so. Was an executive at an ad agency in her country. Traveled all over Europe with a girlfriend, etc. She was also the youngest of six children so got away with more. Didn't meet and marry my dad until she was in her 30's which was considered quite old for the time.

Also, the whole purist attitude is contradicting because everyone wants to have more "western" features and will go through great lengths and plastic surgery to fix their eyes, nose, etc. to look more Caucasian.

Asian/white. The term Cablasian means nothing to me. I usually refer to myself as Hasian (jokingly), other people have said Happa.
