My father did both things when he started having ministrokes, which eventually progressed to full-blown strokes. Hope it is not that, OP, but better they catch it now so that they can get him on stroke medication. How old is? Does he have high cholesterol or diabetes?

Hopefully it is just Bell's palsy.

Don't know, but I hope your husband is okay and it turns out to be something minor and/or harmless.

Was ALS in my grandmother, though I'm certain it is statistically more likely to be many other things. Please update us.

I need to take a video of my husband taking his first few bites of food at a meal It is really unbelievable how frequently this happens. But it is only at the start of a mea that he will gag and sneezel; he often does it so explosively that he blows out his food -- really gross. Then he eats normally. It is really weird.

Vagus nerve compression -- slurred speech.

Just a guess.

I was thinking Lou Gerhig's (ALD). Glad to hear he's going to a doctor.

I have no idea how reliable the site below is, but it has an enormous list of possibilities for "slurred speech" and to my surprise, many of the most common ones are allergy or insect bite related - which might make sense given the sneezing. How soon are his appts?

Btw there is some scary stuff further down the list but remember that as you go down the list the likelihood goes down.

Read the article about Lyme Disease in the Post Health Section today. I believe they mention both symptoms.

He has an appointment in to see a neurologist and also an ENT but I am very anxious.

Weird symptoms include slurring his speech during normal conversation (i.e. not due to alcohol), and lately, gagging and/or sneezing when he eats the first bite of his meal, especially. This symptom seems to be getting more and more frequent.

ideas??
