Subject: Community Academy – Butler Bilingual Campus
This school was a failure for years. Like all of the CAPCS campuses, it was poorly run and managed by people with no background or training in education. Yes, people who have never taught. The school had abysmal test scores and very low re-enrollment. Then, the school mysteriously has a huge leap in test scores, and suddenly people think it is on the level with KIPP. Ugh. I wouldn't enroll my dog at this school, although many parents do like it for the very close proximity to downtown DC offices.

originally it was bilingual - but the efforts were not coordinated and didn't work well in establishing that as a core.

I think the bilingual might have come out of the number of native Spanish speakers who went there as students.

Never mind, I found this on their website:
" This campus has a global education focus. Students learn about languages, cultures and customs of countries around the world, and have opportunities for hands-on activities with artifacts from these countries."

Are they really a bilingual school? I thought they started that way a few years back but then dropped the biligual portion. It's not in their charter
