We pretty much said what the PPs did -- we said we were going to see someone who is like a teacher, and she is going to help us learn how DC learns best. She is really nice and she will do things like puzzles and logic.

that is almost the same thing we said. we want to know how your brain works and how you answer questions. we left it at that. he is in aap now and doesn't know his iq or how any of these tests related to him getting in. we've always said that he was invited to go to this other school because he is a good student.

Tell him, we are trying to understand how you think...how your brain works, because everyones brain is different, and this person can help figure it out. You do not have to mention test.

For those who DCs have taken the WISC-IV, what did you tell your kids about it before the test? The immediate reason we are having our DC tested is to possibly use on appeal for AAP but our DC knows nothing about any of this and we prefer this continue. Our DC performed well on both the NNAT and CogAT (131) but outside the pool.

Though the driver for having our DC tested was the AAP, I think it will also help us in other ways. There seems to be a bit of a gap between ability and achievement, but maybe not.

Anyway, I am just not quite sure what to say the test is for, other than the truth. This will help us figure out where her strengths are. Thanks for any input you can share.
