My husband and I have been "church shopping" for 6 years. Now that we have a child on the way, we are looking to become a part of a faith community.
Me? Disaffected Catholic. Think the most important things a church can offer our family now are community, diversity and welcoming, with some sense of tradition or routine in the service (a la Catholic). Family friendly and family events. Need a church that welcomes women as equals (my main problem with the Catholic faith these days).
Hubs? Southern Methodist. Finds the more "liberal" Episcopalian churches too much, but also disliked Southern Baptist when we tried that up here. Grew up in the same small town church his whole life and wants that replicated.
I think we would trend Episcopalian, but aren't looking for somewhere that is very high church.
We aren't really interested in the "big box" church.
Any advice welcome! We would prefer in the city or in Arlington/Alexandria. We attended this church when dating, and I'd love to find the DC equivalent:
