there is a section of the wisc that measures processing speed. i think it's how fast you can do a simple task. some kids who are gifted score low in this, but not always. my DC hit the ceiling score on this part - IQ crazy high. so it depends on the kid. i don't remember the psychologist telling us about the timing on the other sections. the test and the explaination psychologist gave us did not seem like it could be subjective.

When we met with the psychologist after the WISC-IV was done (December 2011), she said that DD actually scored a little lower in the math portions due to taking a slightly longer amount of time to answer questions.

(We had the WISC-IV done as part of a broader evaluation re: ADD.)

The Weschler is the gold standard for IQ testing.

I read in one of the threads that "the WISC trumps all" in applying for AAP level IV eligibility.

Given that a multitude of psychologists administer this test on their own, could there not be some subjectivity on the scoring of this test? Also, I have read that in some studies "truly gifted" children did relatively poorly in certain subsections of this test. (Perhaps because they took the time to think about their answers?) Thus they did not get very high overall scores. Would love to get some feedback or more knowledgeable info on the above.
