They exist everywhere, but the density of douchebags is certainly highest in the financial sector.

You know this, how?

0741 here: of course, that would still only be a 10% tip...

If the original blog that posted that identified the banker, that's libel.

Purely out of curiosity, what signs of doctoring do you see?

The note "get a real job" appears to not even be ballpoint ink, rather a graphical computer overlay. The texture and color are just too off.

Also, there's too much of a gap between the "1" and the "." in the $1.33 so it looks a bit like $1 .33" My guess is there was a zero or another 1 in the missing spot.

Go back and read the article again, they've updated with a response from the restaurant in question. The restaurant went back through their receipts and confirmed that the photo had been altered and that the actual receipt did not match the doctored photo.

Maybe she was a really crappy waitress and he was trying to make a point about poor service.

Does anyone know if this is real or a hoax?
My gut feeling says it's a fabrication because I know very few people who would be so stupid and petty. Then again I have met a few in my lifetime...
If it's true they should probably hang the guy up by his feet until he disgorges our tax money and the 0% loans from the Fed that keep him employed and pay the waitress out of that, with punitive interest and fees....
