I think the tuition for non residents is signifcantly lower than private schools (I think about $14,000). But irrelevant in the case of Pyle in any event. I do know families in DC who sent their kids to BCC but at this point BCC is probably at capacity as well.

Why would you want to attend Pyle when you could attend a private school for nearly the same amount of money?

For that kind of money I could send a kid to private. On the other hand, if I had several kids then the 3k is a bargain...now you're talkin'

Yes, but presumably you'd rent out your house in DC, or stop paying rent in DC, resulting in less than 3K in costs.

If you're willing to pay cash, I'm sure those skanks that run MCPS will be happy to take it from you whether the schools are crowded or not.

Current capacity is 1271. Current enrollment is 1291. Projected enrollment by 2015 is 1362. So it is overutilized and getting more so.

Yes. And so is Whitman by about 100 students. If you go on the MCPS website in the Schools at a Glance pages you can see enrollment and capacity for each school.

I asked them the same question about an elementary school earlier this year. Theoretically the answer is yes, but there has to be space available, and there is no space available in the better Bethesda area schools.

No, you can pay to attend MCPS schools if you don't live in the district--the PP posted a good resource.

"Reviews requests for enrollment for any student living with
nonresident parents/guardians willing to pay tuition provided the
enrollment is approved by the principal/designee and the requested
school is not overutilized and is consistent with Regulation JEE-RA:
Transfer of Students. The rate and collection of tuition will be
consistent with Policy JED: Residency, Tuition, and Enrollment"

Is it possible for a DC resident to pay to send a child to Pyle Middle School? Thanks.
