I use Evernote. It is easy to import recipes from the web and then edit them. By syncing, you have a copy on your machine with a back-up in the cloud. Plus I can access the same information on my mac book and Iphone as well.

I'm looking for an app to organize recipes on my iPad. I tried BigOven. But seems like the recipes are stored on the website and if it goes away, all your recipes will go with it. The app is free but you have to pay for Pro edition yearly subscription in order to import recipes from the web, I hate that, especially when you find out about this only after you downloaded the app and registered with the website. I like the general idea, but would rather keep my recipes on my iPad.

I guess I'm looking for an online recipe search app, where you can also store your own recipes offline, is there such a thing? I'm an adventurous cook, who likes to tweak and substitute ingredients, and recipes like this are not always worth sharing with the world.
