I'm not the OP, but I've been told by many people that labradoodles cause fewer problems with someone who has mild dog allergies. So maybe that's where OP is coming from.

Yes that is true, however that also depends on the individual dog and isn't a guarentee for the "breed". There are breeds that are low dander, low oils, and low shedding that are also good for allergy suffers. A labradoodle is still a $500 mutt. Same as a puggle a goldendoodle, and a cockerdoodle.

I've had friends use this breeder: www.labradoodles.com in Berryville, VA - I can think of 5 dogs or so from this breeder - all lovely - good luck!

I love my labradoodle. She's very smart and incredibly sweet and great around kids. She's much cuter than a poodle. And she doesn't shed.

I saw a great dog that was a mix of a border collie and a lab. I also went to see pups for sale from a breeder with the same mix and they turned out to have the thin border collie body, narrow face, sleek lab coat. The goal was the border collie coat , head of either, border collie ears, lab build.

Now why wouldn't some one looking for a doodle of any sort just get a standard poodle? I'm skeptical about where these doodle breeders get their dogs. Most rep breeders require evidence of neutering unless the dog is on the show circuit.

OP, beware that even the "reputable" breeders can have issues.

Those health guarantees mean nothing.

We researched our dogs and their breeders extraordinarily carefully. We ended up getting two golden-poodle mixes (i refuse to call them "goldendoodles" but others do).

We met the parents, checked references, etc. etc.

Still ended up with one dog with hip dysplasia. She's two. We're looking at 5-figure surgery in life. When we found it we complained but all we were offered was a refund of half her purchase price, but we had to spend half THAT on X-rays to satisfy the breeder.

Did some research and found out that these health issues that aren't supposed to be present in these "designer dogs" in fact are turning up at an alarming rate.

Be careful.

We are looking to get a labradoodle puppy, and are looking for a reputable breeder. If you have a breeder you can recommend, we would be so grateful. Thanks!!
