Our elder one did not get into the HGC, but our younger one did. They both got into middle school magnets and the elder one is headed for a high school magnet in the fall - so clearly is qualified for these programs.
I still feel bad about our elder one, all these years later - I see how well-prepared our younger one was for middle school. Such a contrast to her older sibling's experience, which was ok but nothing compared to the HGC. The difference in learning how to write, especially, is very significant.
