I'm in the same situation as the original poster. My husband and I travel a lot and rarely are together when I am ovulating. We are starting to consider IUI. My husband had his sperm tested, and he has a high count and motility. I am not aware of any fertility problems on my end (though they very well might exist). What is the success rate for IUI when there are not any known fertility problems (other than timing)? Will the doctor have us use fertility meds, or can we do a "natural" IUI?

I second the SG recommendation. the K street location is near GW.

my private practice IF doctor did IUIs on weekends, holidays, snowstorms. i often wondered when she went on vacation.

Shady Grove also does procedures on weekends, but you'd need to go to the Rockville office for the weekend procedure. If your office is near GW, then you are probably close to the K Street Shady Grove office and could meet with a doctor there and do any monitoring and weekday procedures there. I had three IUIs at the DC office -- and all fell on a weekday. They may have timed the trigger that way, come to think of it....

look at the most recent SART stats, I wouldn't go to GW. i know those are for ivf, but still

Probably true but we were discussing him not being there within a week of procedure so it was in context of fresh is best but a week will not be a problem.

Interesting. I was told that the sample could be frozen for up to a year, and there is not a significant different in outcomes compared to fresh samples.

What about GW's Fertility Center? Are they open on weekends? That's close to my office, so it's more convenient.

I asked them if we do iui or ivf if it would be a problem and they said no as long as he could give a sample within a week of the procedure then it could be frozen. You can freeze longer but they told me it is not recommended. Good luck to you.

New to this forum. We are looking to do IUI because my spouse is frequently out of the country and never seems to be home during ovulation. We don't know of any fertility problems - just terrible timing. So we're exploring the various IUI options at local fertility clinics. I was wondering what the logistics are of timing IUI. There's a 2 in 7 chance that ovulation will happen on the weekend. Are any of the DC-area clinics open on weekends? Or do they give you medications to stimulate ovulation before the weekend?
