No, there is a difference in encoding between the three regions. You need either a multi region DVD player or a regionless DVD. They make both. It's not pirating if you only use the copy you make for yourself and keep the original.

I am from another country and Most of the DVDs I buy there (in my language) I cannot play here. However, I since learned that the region code thing is encrypted on the disc itself, and not on the file (not sure if my language is correct). So, my husband copy the DVD to our computer (the movie, tv series, whatever), and then copy the movie from the computer to a virgem DVD disk bought here in the US. I don't know if this is illegal or not (I wouldn't t care either way), but it is not like Iam using pirate disk or didn't buy the thing in the first place. I am not distributing or selling...I look at it as making a back up

Anybody know if region 2 dvds will play on a region 1 player? Is there an adaptor I can buy? Yes, I assume because we are US we are most important and all other countries trivial DVDs should be ready for us immediately.
Specifically, I am trying to watch a public TV show from the UK.
