Is your child doing okay in school, but in need of a boost with course content and study skills? ... or engaging enrichment? ... or college applications?

Would you or a friend like personal coaching to improve your own projects and products?

I tutor elementary English, social studies, math, science, and integrated subjects to students from the third grade up--some attending Murch and Lafayette and some applying to private schools. I also guide learners in middle school through graduate school on test preparation (verbal sections of the ISEE, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE), application essays (topics, drafts, and revisions) and resumes, and academic research and writing in and across the disciplines. And I coach adults--including international users of English and seasoned writers---who aspire to shape and sharpen books, articles, papers, proposals, reports, and online content. I'm a lifelong resident with graduate training in composition studies, an advanced degree from Georgetown in linguistics (focused on narratives and “how to do things with words” or pragmatics), extensive teaching and consulting experience, and a strong record of student placement. I'm pleased to provide references, and to work closely with parents, teachers, and clients of all kinds to provide exceptional individual and small group instruction.

I'll have tutoring/coaching slots in the late spring and summer, and I also am open to offering elementary math and reading groups.

Thanks,
Maggie Ronkin

I would be glad to help. I taught middle-school English and social studies for six years and have published a novel for young readers with Simon and Schuster. I have a lot of experience helping students structure their writing, both in classrooms and one-on-one, and students consider me both a fun and helpful. If you'd like to discuss further, you can reach me at jmleader01@earthlink.net. I can also provide references.

Hey there! I'm a writing and reading tutor. I'm a k-12 certified reading and English teacher, and I've actually worked as a professional writer. I can give you a lot more details if you shoot an e-mail to gloverparkreading at gmail.

I am looking for someone to help my 12 year old with writing. I expect that by HS, writing should be more mature and well organized, so I would like to find someone to work on that for a few years before HS.
I have heard of writing workshops, but they are ususally for adults.
