We did our whole rowhouse (11 windows) four years ago using Windows on Washington (Brandon was great) for less than $6000 including higher-end handles and installation. Totally worth it.

The majority of our windows are Anderson and it was between 300 to 1000 for the windows (low end were just small vinyl- more expensive bigger windows.) We also had some put in by Lowes and have been really disappointed with those windows. yes, much cheaper but they don't open or close, the swell with moisture - to hot or too cold, to damp etc. The Anderson windows have held up well, work well, were installed well all around worth the price. In a new construction area we went with Anderson from Home Depot and as others said not as good as Anderson from the store- particularly the frames are not as sturdy or well made.

AVOID Power Home Remodeling Group - can't believe the high pressure sales tactics and left with no estimate. Made the mistake of signing up for what I thought would be a 1 hour presentation.

Thompson Creek does the high pressure sales tactics - you need to negotiate a lot to get them to a reasonable price. They may say their windows are higher quality, but they're not much different than Home Depot. If you want the good stuff, go with Anderson. But be aware that the Anderson windows sold in Home Depot that you or a contractor installs is not the same quality as what you'll get directly from Anderson. The stuff at HD is still good, but the price should reflect the difference in quality.

used window depot and paid $315 per window installed. they did a great job and we are very happy. not other places will cahrge you more and some up to $1000/window so it really depends on how much you want to pay.

Not to hijack your thread, but has anyone had screens made for existing windows? The house i just bought has a gorgeous bay window in the family room, but no screens so we can't open the windows at all in the nice weather months.

We used Home Depot to install a large bow window. Originally they brought in a window that was too small and tried to fill in the gaps with filler. We complained, raised hell and they took it out and brought in a larger more expensive BAY window for no extra cost. They do great work but you need to be on them like a hawk to ensure quality. Oh home depot charged us 3000 while as anderson windows wanted to charge us 9000 'F' that. The window home deopt brought has a 10 year warranty and is energy efficient.

Just had quote from Thompson Creek...about $900 per window after a discount they have. They have really high quality windows, made and installed out of Lanham factory as well as double lifetime warranty and service included in fee.

I called a few places and got quotes of $300-$500 per window, and all the places dropped the price as you ordered more windows. So it pays to have all the windows replaced at once if you can swing it, rather than dragging it out over a few years.

We had some replacement windows done by Home Depot - it's a crap shoot as to if you get decent installers or not. We did not. Their major downfall was replacing a large picture window with a 3-panel sliding glass door. When the installers showed up, they tried to get more $ out of us for that part of the job - but we had a signed contract and made them stick to that. We had to watch them like hawks and get them to fix stuff they weren't doing right/nicely. Then in the end, the screen door doesn't slide well b/c they didn't install the track evenly. We've had better luck with Vinyl Lite - and they don't do the used car salesmen tactics with giving you a price quote. They give a fair price the first time. It was around $300 a window with either place. But pricing is based on size of window, so depends on your house.

depends on size or custom-made, but $500-1000 a window, and on the high end of that if you're paying for brand (Anderson, pella especially). bulk orders save, and if the window place does the install (make SURE they do the frame right and cut drywall to fit well. otherwise have an architect install them).

We got 16 windows-10 standard size and 6 non-standard, we got an for $8,000 from a window company which was approximately $500/window.

I have 9 windows I would like to replace for a more energy efficient type and better fitted. The ones I have right now are horribly fitted and they are all drafty. I can hear and feel the wind coming in, plus small bugs.

How much would something like that cost? Any recommendations for the Nova area? I love in Reston if it makes any difference.
