I love the neighborhoods listed in the city, Roland Park, Guilford, Homeland, Mt. Washington. They are more beautiful than you can even imagine. However, if you must move, I think Greenspring Valley is nice. Ruxton is also nice, but kind of far out. What about Howard County?

Homeland is very similar to Chevy Chase.

Also in the city: Mount Washington.

For inside the city limits, my favorites are Homeland, then Guilford and then Roland Park. Ruxton is also great. I do like Stoneleigh and it's a suburb, but the other four areas are on a different level, I think. Federal Hill is nothing like Chevy Chase or Bethesda...it's more like Old Town Alexandria.

Guilford and Roland Park are in the city. Stoneleigh is in the county just over the city/county line. Stoneleigh has some cool, unique houses like Ruxton but without as much land. Stoneleigh ES is set to be expanded soon.

Just echoing Roland Park, and adding Stonleigh, which is technically also county and has gorgeous old stone houses and land along with great publics which help resale. If you want to be closer to the action try Federal Hill and maybe even that new development off Key HWY overlooking the Inner Harbor. Where Michael Phelps lives? I forgot the name of it.

Guilford and homeland too, both near Roland park. These 3 are technically in the city; Ruxton is just over the county line but still inside 695. Greenspring is also nice but a bit farther out.

If you are looking in the county, Ruxton would be similar to Chevy Chase. Older homes with character and some land. The resale values are good because they feed into good public schools- Riderwood, Dumbarton MS and Towson HS. Plus, the commute downtown would be short since you are right off 83.

Thinking about relocating to Baltimore suburbs but don't know where to start looking. What neighborhoods would be similar to Bethesda, Chevy Chase, NW? We'd be sending kids to private schools. Thanks!
