I called our director of admission. She knew that we had applied out. She is holding our spots for us but asked that we let her know as soon as possible (i.e., the week the acceptances arrive).

The schools you are applying to will want info from your current school so at some point (not if you are just exploring but if you are actually going through with an application) you will need to be upfront.

Not being transparent will give a bad impression for both schools.

Turn in your reenrollment contract.

Read the contract carefully before you rely on tuition insurance. I think (haven't looked at it recently) ours covers job losses and moves out of the area but not a transfer to another school. Also, the covered child has to attend a couple of weeks of school before the insurance kicks in.

Can anyone give me advice on applying to schools but ensuring that if we don't get in, our spot in our present school is secure? Will the present school share information with the application schools on how many we are applying to? We don't want our present school to know just yet that we will be considering other schools. However, if we don't get in, we are resigned to stay where we are. How can we protect our place? Obviously, they will know eventually but want to stay ahead with information.
