I constantly get freaking Rick Santorum ads, I guess I've been googling Santorum to often.

I have an ad for modular classrooms (probably because they were mentioned in the Peabody/SWS thread in DCPS/PCS). I actually had no idea that there was competition among modular classroom manufacturers, let alone that someone thought banner ads were the best way to reach school facility decision-makers.

Obviously this is a choice that you are free to make. But, I really wish you would consider displaying our ads. I've tried to be careful to place ads in areas that don't distract from using the website. I've rejected a ton of advice to put ads in places that they were harder to ignore. But, advertising revenue is the only income we get from DCUM. If everyone blocked ads, the site would cease to exist.

Regarding the content of the ads to which many of you apparently object, we have little to no control over that. We use Google Adsense and Google chooses the ads that you get. Very frequently, the ads are based on searches you have done or other websites that you have visited. We recently used 1-800-Got-Junk and now almost all the ads I get are for that service. Seems a waste since we already used them, liked the service, and will use again when needed. We just don't need the service now.

When I use my computer at home, I get DCUM ads from Vegas hotels!

I must have learned to tune them out. Same with advertisements I get in the mail. I used to love getting certain catalogs, and now, they're not so exciting anymore. Same stuff, different day.

I'm really put out by the frequency of "order yourself a woman or three" adds popping up here.

This is NOT website feedback b/c I don't care if I get served ads or not but I want to discuss content.

I was getting an ugly purse ad with a stupid name: petunia pickle plum. Not only is the purse hat-box ugly but the name is stupid.

BUT NOW, I'm getting Russian and Indian mail order dating service ads and have no idea why. Maybe it's b/c of the Real Housewives thread? I get the purse ones b/c I posted about a purple purse but the dating services for foreign brides? Granted, some of them are pretty and I"d love to chat with them: What do you hope to get by doing this? are you for real? it is really so bad there? What does your family think? will you miss your country?
