My husband also did it at home (check with your doc, it depends on how strong the SA is) - anyway, I was given a drop off time for speciem and an IUI transfer time for me. I usually went out for breakfast in between. You have to get it to the facility within 30 mins I think (or maybe it's an hour?). Also, if I triggered Thursday night, my first transfer was Saturday - my second time it was Friday - all depends on whether you are starting to ovulate or not -but they usually do about 36 hours if I recall. GOOD LUCK!

12:16 here. I should add -- the only reason my spouse was in the waiting room is because we have only one car & I needed him to drop me off at the metro. Otherwise, no need for him to be there.

Thanks! Good idea on buying him a magazine. Where can you buy that at a bookstore or a convenience store? Never bought porn magazine before. LOL

Typically, the male partner has to be there 2 hours before your procedure--at CFA, I think he had to be there before 8:30am; when he was done, we'd go get breakfast somewhere and then I'd come back around 10:30. The IUI takes about one minute, and then you'll just lie there for 5 minutes or so. If your spouse wants to be in the room, he can; it was just easier and less awkward for us if my spouse stayed in the waiting room. He abstained from caffeine and alcohol for a few days before the procedure, but I think that was more just feeling like he was doing something, rather than it being strictly necessary. Obviously, he should abstain from sex 2 days before the procedure to have the ideal sample.

Good luck to you. DH always went before me, then I went in an hour or two later. I can't remember how long it takes them to prepare the sample.
Maybe buy DH a good porn mag so that he doesn't have to feel skeevy touching the ones they have there that have been touched by so many other guys.
Also, remember that it's not "fun" for them. It's stressful too.

For those of you who have been through this, is there anything my husband should know to prepare for this? We are most likely triggering on thursday so I guess we will do it on Sunday am? Any words of wisdom from those with experience are appreciated. I have been making him take bee pollen everyday and a multiple vitamin. I have DOR and he has normal healthy sperm. Does he just show up with me, can he be in the room for transfer. Any recommendations for me are also welcome. Thank you! Baby dust to all this valentine's day.
