Studio Fix is a love it or hate it product. I'm allergic to it, so my opinion isn't justified in this debate.

MAC isn't bad for your skin, but I've heard of people breaking out from their foundations. But different strokes for different folks -- if it works for you, stick with it.

(All this said, I love their eyeshadows so much.)

The mac mineralize skinfinish is also something to look into. For a lighter finish that isn't too cakey.

OP here, thanks for your replies! It was Studio Fix and I'm going to get some more as soon as I can get to the mall. And, I'm going to throw away the mineral stuff I've been trying to like!

I agree. Studio Fix Foundation is amazing. I often go astray and try different things, but always keep me SF around and always come back to it. I've never heard that MAC is bad for your skin. I probably wouldn't use their skin care products because that's not what they're known for, but they are leaders and innovators in the cosmetics industry and I would fefinitely recommend them. I also appreciate that they appreciate diversity and offer the most color range of any cosmetics line on the market.

I've never heard that MAC is bad for your skin. I'm a total devotee of the Studio Fix foundation, which is I believe what you're talking about. They also have newer foundation products that are worth a try. I've used primarily MAC makeup for at least 15 years and I've never had any trouble with my skin. I haven't found any other brand that looks as good on me and lasts all day, and their colors are fantastic.

I've never heard that about MAC. My impression is MAC has a cult following -- people really love them. If you like it and it wasn't causing problems for you, I say go back.

Are they really that bad for your skin? They make (used to make?) a powder foundation that you could just put on with a sponge and it turned creamlike. It was so quick and easy to apply and did a good job covering. I stopped using it because everytime I mentioned it to anyone they'd say "you use MAC!!! That's so bad for your skin!" I never looked into it independently but just stopped using it. I have not found anything to replace its ease and coverage and would like to go back.
