A friend with breast cancer said you should NOT let your kids eat apple skin unless the apple is organic. Apple skin contains some of the highest levels of carcinogens (if not organic) of any fruit.

I thouht it was the healthiest part..and defintely eat it I buy organic but in the fall I will buy local as it seems fresher/tastier.

Always. I try to buy organic most of the time, but I haven't been able to find organic Honeycrisp anywhere, and those are just too yummy to give up, so I eat the conventional ones - with the skin on, and that's how my kids eat it too.

I peel my son's apple then eat the peels. Yum. I try to always buy organic apples, though (and I don't buy organic everything) because apples are one of the "dirty dozen."

Actually come to think of it, I did have one friend who peeled her peaches before eating raw.

I usually eat the skin b/c I heard that's where most of the fiber is. I guess if it's not organic that's another story. Shoot.
