They have high chairs and are fairly kid friendly. Just don't go when it's crazy busy. JA has young kids himself.

I've met a friend who has a baby at Jaleo during the week and it was fine. I wouldn't go Saturday night though.

I would go to Jaleo at around 430pm on a Sunday. Really chill in there at that time, and they have happy hour til 7!

actually I agree that generally speaking these are fairly loud, child-friendly places, but use your judgment as to your child and your preferences.

There is absolutely no problem with bringing your kid to any of these places. We did it plenty of times. They have high chairs, and they are not romantic places that people go to avoid children. As always, remove your child if they get noisy and clean up any mess that they make.

If you have to take the baby then I think your best bet is Jaleo or Zaytinya in terms of atmosphere but you should still call ahead and see if they can accomodate you (high chair etc). Jaleo is very casual so you should not have an issue there.

If you can get a sitter then I reccomend Oyamel (assuming you like Mexicanish food). Cafe Atlantico is also great but I think that it is still closed (space being used for America Eats).

We're taking our 20 month old to Jaleo in Crystal City Saturday night. I've heard they're on the louder side which works well for my DS but we're new to the area so I've never been to one before.

Second 14:29 poster - I can absolutely see that the vibe at America Eats would be different for a workday lunch vs. weekend. We had taken kids to Cafe Atlantico's brunch (same location) and that was fine.

Jaleo is great for brunch too. We've taken our kids (3 and 1) a few times and they've always been very welcoming.

We have taken DS to America Eats, and he was a little out of place (he didn't act up or anything, just that everyone else was there for a business lunch). We have been to Zaytinya multiple times for lunch with DS, and that is 100% ok with kids - last time we were there, there were many other children as well. Everyone was well behaved, and we did see one family leave, because their child was not having a good day. If your DC is decently behaved, I don't think it will be an issue. I have seen babies at Oyamel as well; it's been a while since I've been to Jaleo.

Go for lunch, or at 5:00. I believe some of his restaurants might be open all day, so that's an option too.

I LOVE Jaleo. I lived in Spain and it reminds me of my time there. My favorites are the datiles (dates/bacon...delish)

I would totally get a baby sitter, it's worth the cost to have a really nice time out.

Babysitter, or go at 5:00 pm. Call ahead to ask if they have high chairs and what they have to accommodate kids. We don't go to "nice" places with our toddler because if I am going to shell out for a meal like that, I don't want to be interrupted with a poopy diaper, or have to rush to finish...find someone to watch your kid and then enjoy lingering over your meal.
