You made me snort coffee up my nose. And I'm the same way. I'm nice in a professional capacity and with casual acquaintances/people I've just met. My friends get the full blast of snark because the know me well enough to know I snark because I care.

OP, you must see the world in black and white. Because, there are many layers of responses for a given topic. Also consider the time, mood, etc.

No, my husband would not be surprised by my posts but my DD's teacher might be.

No. People generally like me in real life. They think I'm sweet, nice, etc. The me on DCUM is the real me. I could care less if people like me.

Would people who know you in real life be surprised by your opinions and the things you say on this board? Is your online personality here the "real" you or is the live and in person you the "real" you?

As for me, I think my husband would be surprised by my posts but my immediate family (siblings who grew up with me) would not be surprised. I think the online version of me is definitely more real and honest.
