it is not about the cholesterol levels, but the ratio, HIGH HDL is what is desirable. Furthermore, triglycerides are the true indicator of health over cholesterol.

Good point on the meat. I'm a PP who eats a lot of eggs, but naturally don't eat much meat. I'd say I'm an accidental vegetarian on most days.

Chickens are not vegetarian, they are omnivores by nature and should primarily eat bugs. That is what makes a healthy chicken. Vegetarian fed means they eat grain (aka corn, which is a modified TROPICAL GRASS and not chicken food!).

To answer the OPs question, I too eat 2-3 eggs/day. I eat farm fresh local eggs that have a bright orange to red center. This indicates a healthy chicken diet.

My cholesterol ratio is in the optimal range and my triglycerides last time tested were at 30. With that said, I also eat a few avocados a week, lots of legumes, and very little meat and what meat I do eat is from local grass fed beef and local chicken/pork. I'm a "restaurant vegetarian".

My middle aged DH has a smilar diet, since I'm the cook of the house and his cholesterol and triglycerides are also excellent.

I'm an egg addict myself and eat them everyday. My rule is that omlettes and scrambles get one yolk for three whites, so that when I want a couple fried eggs or three hard-boiled it all evens out.

My cholesterol is great*

*Disclaimer: I am also addicted to oat bran and rarely eat red meat.

While the general thinking has changed, as with all things, eggs should be eaten in moderation. I would say that 2-3 per day is about the high end of "in moderation" and that you shouldn't be eating more than that.

No. Thinking has changed on the relationship between cholesterol and heart disease (may only be correlation, not causation). In addition, if you can buy free range eggs from a farm where the birds actually eat grass and bugs the fat profile changes dramatically, and has Omega 3s and other good fats you normally associate with fish and olive oil.

So are they healthy or not?
I love them and could eat 2-3 day (do eat 2-3 day) and have totally fine cholesterol levels. Do I need to reduce?
