Sorry but this group assassinated Americans, had a role in the Iranian hostage crisis, and hired Ramzi Yousef, the World Trade Center bomber.

Your notion that there are "good guys" in this conflict is naive.

I didn't read the entire article, but the People's Mujahedin has a large camp in Iraq that had been under the protection of US forces. Now that those forces have withdrawn, the group is in a precarious position given the Iraqi government's friendship with Iran. There are a number of US officials and/or former officials who have openly supported the organization. This is just another example of the hypocrisy surrounding the entire "terrorism" issue. If Americans supported Hamas or Hizballah in the same manner that some Americans support the People's Mujahedin, they would be arrested. There is simply no equal protection under the law in this case. Since you can be labeled a "terrorist" for basically anything these days, the word has lost all meaning.

At least off the record, I think everyone accepts the "don't bring a knife to a gunfight" justification for undercover activity. I'm just claiming that to be a fact, not defending it.

Unofficially, abso f*ckinglutely. Officially, no. The people of Israel do not support this policy--but the bizarre politics of the region tolerates it.
